In recent years, China's high-speed railways, independently designed and developed by China and fully owned by independent intellectual property rights, have made frequent appearances and continuously refreshed the international community’s awareness of China’s high-speed rail. At present, there are more than 2395 EMU trains put into operation in China, ranking first in the world, with a safe operation mileage of more than 3.74 billion kilometers. Through the digestion and absorption of imported technologies and bold innovations based on actual conditions, China’s high-speed rail system has demonstrated its advantages of comprehensive system technology, low cost, and rapid construction speed in just a few decades. It has displayed “Made in China” with “Chinese speed”. Charm and strength.

Most people in the industry know that carbon fiber, a high-tech material with superior performance, plays a role that cannot be ignored in the "speed of China" of high-speed rails. Its significance to high-speed rails is mainly reflected in the following two aspects:

The first is to achieve high-speed rail vehicle body lightweight. Carbon fiber is light and has a density of only 1.78 g/cm3, which is similar to plastic, but its strength is more than 7 times higher than that of steel. The use of carbon fiber components in large quantities can reduce the proportion of traditional steel structures in high-speed rail cars. The ultra-lightweight of the entire high-speed rail is conducive to reducing the resistance encountered during driving, directly reducing energy consumption, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and eventually increasing speed.

The second is to increase the safety of high-speed rail operations. The higher the speed of high-speed trains, the higher the durability requirements for various parts of the vehicle body. For example, at the end of 2010, Harmony CRH380A was jointly tested and synthesized on the Zaozhuang-Jinjian line of the leading segment of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway. During the test, a speed of 486.1 kilometers per hour was run, but this high speed impact on the train bearings was very high. After the highest impact speed, all the bearings on the train were almost replaced. Although the country is currently decelerating the use of high-speed rails, the average speed of high-speed rails is also more than 200 kilometers. This requires strong materials to ensure the safety of high-speed rail operations. The strength of carbon fiber material is as high as 3600 MPa, especially for steering wheels made of carbon fiber, and the mechanical strength and impact resistance are increased by 35% and 20% or more compared with ordinary materials, respectively. The overall strength of the vehicle is also theoretically at least 20%-30% stronger than that of common materials, and it is not afraid of chemical corrosion such as acid and alkali salts and has a long service life.

In addition, the high-speed rail needs to cross the area with a large temperature difference in a short period of time. From Harbin to Harbin, the city where the spring and the Italian will be combined, experiencing a large temperature difference in a short period of time needs to maintain the zero deformation of the parts. This is a huge amount for ordinary materials. The challenge, but this is its strength for carbon fiber.

At present, carbon fiber composite materials can be applied to non-loaded and sub-loaded components such as train interiors, pantographs, and equipment compartments, as well as main load-bearing components such as car bodies and bogies.

When high-speed rail manufacturing shows a clear demand trend for carbon fiber, many carbon fiber processing and manufacturing companies are also targeting the high-speed rail market in a timely manner and actively engage in the docking industry. At present, China's high-speed rail construction is in a prosperous period. Through years of hard work and accumulation, China has fully grasped the core technologies of high-speed railways, and the overall level of the industry has ranked among the best in the world. On the staggered track, the "China Speed" of high-speed railways means that "Made in China" has taken the path of independent intellectual property rights to guide development. In this process, the use of new carbon fiber materials will not only promote the lightweighting of high-speed trains, but will also drive a new revolution in the high-speed rail manufacturing industry and further enhance "China's speed."
